Admission Requirements

Required for all programs

  1. Valid Driver's License
  2. Vaccinations:
    1. Measles, Mumps, Rubella
    2. Hepatitis B
    3. Varicella Zoster (Chicken Pox) or acquired immunity from desease
    4. Polio, Tetanus, and Diphtheria
    5. Evidence of or willingness to accept a flu shot
  3. Health Insurance
  4. Tuberculosis Test (one of):
    1. Negative skin or blood test
    2. Documentation from physician after chest X-ray affirming absence of tuberculosis
  5. Results of a criminal background check deemed satisfactory by the judgement of the program staff.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

EMR students do not have any additional adminssion requirements.

Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)

EMT-B students do not have any additional admissions requirements.

Advanced EMT AEMT

AEMT students must also posess a valid Basic Life Support(BLS) certification and a valid, unexpired, unencumbered EMT-B license with the State of Michigan.

Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P)

Paramedic students must have a valid BLS certification and a valid, unencombered, EMT-B or AEMT license with the State of Michigan.


Additionally Paramedic students must meet minimum reading and mathematics competencies. These competencies can be satisfied directly with the options in the table below.

Paramedic students who do not meet any of the above requirements must pass a FISDAP© Entrance Exam at the Paramedic level. This exam will be at the expense of the student. The student may attempt the entrance exam as many times as the student needs.
